There are many ways to serve for the summer. Below we have listed positions available. No matter the position you are applying for, you will have the chance to be a part of the skits, worship, and all the crazy fun to help make the students' experience at Whisper Mountain one they take home with them and remember as a milestone in their walk with God!
We care about your journey with God too! Along with ministering to others, it is a priority for us to help you engage in your own study of God's Word, prayer, and worship. This place called Whisper Mountain is meant to be a place to hear God's whisper for ALL who come! Expect to meet God here!
What job would fit you best? Adventure Program Guide: (Requires minimum of 10 weeks commitment) Guide is a responsible Christian college-age student or adult with experience as an Adventure Program Guide. Adventure Program Guide is responsible for all outdoor adventure programs of this ministry including facilitation of high and low ropes courses, wilderness day hikes and backpacking, paintball course, field games. Must be experience with team building elements. Must have ability to teach and implement debrief lessons for teachable moments. Knowledgeable in safety, set up, manage equipment. First Aid and CPR are required, wilderness first aid a plus. Must be in great physical condition and be devoted to serve and minister to others this often means making sacrifices of time and sleep to make sure the camps are the best they can be and that campers have a great experience. Specific training will be provided on our facility programs and equipment use. Additional references may be required
Guides: (Requires 10 week commitment) Guides are Christian college-age students who have completed their first year of college at application. Guides “live” in cabins with campers throughout the week. Guides are responsible for the physical and spiritual well being of campers and their leaders. They guide campers through their entire week of activities such as initiative games, day hikes, high & low ropes courses, paintball, Bible study and meal times utilizing teachable moments to share God’s love. Guides must possess an excellent relationship with Christ and able to work well alongside others. Must be in great physical condition and be devoted to serve and minister to others this often means making sacrifices of time and sleep to make sure the camps are the best they can be and that campers have a great experience. Guides will be assigned a Guide Assistant which they will mentor, encourage, and affirm during the camp weeks.
Assistant Guides: (Requires 4-10 week commitment) Assistant “Guides-In-Training” are students age 16 years to high school seniors at time of application. Guides “live” in cabins with campers throughout each week. They will assist Guides and executive staff with behind the scenes projects and will have limited contact directly with campers, and opportunities to serve others. These positions are crucial in the ministry of the camp so campers receive the best spiritual blessing and enjoyable experience. Assistant guides will be trained and mentored by Guides and executive staff during their time at WM.
Food Services Managers: (Requires 4-10 week commitment) College-age student to Mature Adult with good leadership ability, experience in food preparation, presentation and sanitation procedures. They must have a working knowledge of a commercial kitchen and outdoor grill cooking. They are responsible for food service training and instruction of Food Service Assistants, ordering and preparing quality meals for campers and staff. They are responsible for preparing and packaging trail food for day hikes and wilderness treks. They must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds. Food Service Managers report to Food Service Director.
Food Service Assistants: (Requires 4- 10 week commitment) Applicants age to be 16 years and older. Must be able to be trained to use commercial kitchen equipment including sharp kitchen implements in meal preparation, serving and clean up of all meals; assist in preparing and packaging trail food for day hikes and wilderness treks. Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
Grounds Maintenance Manager: (Requires 4-10 week commitment) College age student to Mature Adult with experience to manage and oversee Grounds and Assistants. Responsible for grounds beatification, cutting grass, weed eating, fertilizing, planting and other gardening and landscape duties. Must have a desire to work outside with hands, be qualified to operate machinery. Must have leadership ability to train and instruct assistants. Applicant must be physically capable to do manual labor. Other general camp maintenance duties may also be included based upon ability. Will train to operate camp equipment.
Grounds Maintenance Assistants: (Requires 4-10 week commitment). Applicants age to be 16 years and older. Must enjoy vigorous physical labor and working as a team member. Some basic knowledge of grounds maintenance procedures is helpful. Duties to include assisting in grounds beautification, cutting grass, weed eating, planting and other gardening and landscape. Must have a desire to work outside with hands, be willing and physically capable to do manual labor. This position is crucial in the ministry of the camp so our grounds are pristine and exemplify God’s blessings. Other general camp maintenance duties may also be included based upon ability. Instruction and training provided.
Housekeeping: (Requires 4-10 week commitment) Applicant age to be 16 years and older. Must enjoy vigorous physical labor and working as a team member. Some basic knowledge of custodial and housekeeping procedures is helpful. Duties include cleaning restrooms, floors, walkways, window washing, hauling trash, etc. Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds.
Tender Care: (Requires 4-10 week commitment) Responsible for tender loving care for children from infants to elementary school ages. Must be a responsible individual with leadership ability and babysitting experience. Current CPR and First Aid certificates are a plus. Additional references may be requested for this position. Must be able to frequently lift/carry up to 25 pounds. Position may include assisting in other areas of the camp.

Catch This! ~ We provide training for all positions. These job descriptions are provided as an overview and do not entail all aspects of positions.
~ MISSION SUPPORT: Whether in full-time or seasonal part-time basis each member of Whisper Mountain is considered a Missionary. We know working at Whisper Mountain is a special calling from the Lord, and it requires certain commitments. We require all staff (and suggest to all volunteers) to build a support team of friends and family who will commit to regularly pray and support while they serve at Whisper Mountain. A sample Mission Support letter will be provided with position acceptance packet for successful applicants to prepare and are to be sent out prior to their arrival. |
Traditions: At Whisper Mountain Ministries, certain traditions have been adopted to insure an efficient, smooth-running operation. In order to be considered, applicants must read & agree with Whisper Mountain Ministries' Statement of Beliefs & Code of Conduct, as stated within the application. Automobiles with proper licenses & insurance may only be used outside Whisper Mountain property area. No motorcycles, ATV's or scooters may be brought to camp.
