2026 Talent Show Fundraiser
Some of our staff traveled down to Fort Myers, Florida recently to be part of the big fundraiser put on by a Life Group of McGregor Baptist Church. For the past 13 years, this group of people has creatively looked for ways to stand with our ministry financially, and we just couldn’t be more grateful (and humbled) for such an effort.
Susan Steiner was the decor visionary which was beautifully executed by her and other ladies in the Life Group. The desserts were tasty and decadent, a special touch for each guest to enjoy throughout the evening. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable!
As far as talent goes, we saw new and old favorites, funny skits, and comedic bits. Pretty sure we saw smoke coming off the strings and keys of some of those musicians…so amazing! Along with the talent, there was the fun of a Silent Cake auction and a Luxury African Safari Trip auction. We even had a spur of the moment auction of gift cards by Board Member & Chick-fil-A owner Brian Hogan who had flown in to be part of the event. “I’ve always wanted to try to do that!” he said afterward!
Debbie Propp set up a booth in the back selling some of our cookbooks — we are grateful for her thoughtful idea and executing it for us too! Cookbook sales were a nice touch to our fundraising!
Our very own were part of the evening as well — Randy Peery (one of our full-time volunteers) was the fantastic MC for the evening; Marty and Shaun each shared about the ministry and our current needs through a Q&A time; and Brian Hogan gave the big ask at the end, coming from a place of having been a camper, summer staff, and now board member! How he shared about the stewardship of our ministry was an encouraging thing for us to hear, as well as helped people feel good about pouring their resources into the work we do! We appreciated Randy’s touch of humor while keeping things moving, the chance to share about the work, and Brian’s energy in sharing his experience with us!
Our big ask was giving for the Fieldhouse build and Bunk Beds for the new cabin that was built last year. We are praising the Lord for His provision of just under $52,000 raised to go toward these two things! We love when He uses His people to accomplish His work! It’s a beautiful thing!
Of course, spending the evening with old friends and meeting new ones is always a highlight for our staff! Without the people, it just wouldn’t matter so much, you know?
Although we can’t shout out every person or post all the faces, we are completely grateful to every single person who had a hand in making this event such a success and who gave up their evening to come be with us. It takes a whole lot of people to pull something like this off! Thank you to all those who came, gave, served, prepared, prayed. As Shaun would say, “Eternal Traysures and Playsures forever more, Young People!” May the Lord bless you for your part in His work through Whisper Mountain Camp!
BIG SHOUT OUT TO TRICIA COGGINS FOR ALL THESE PICTURES! She works haaaaarrrrrd for us (and so many!).
